Prof. Dr. Dr. h.c. Hans-Jürgen Appelrath is Professor of practical computer science at the University of Oldenburg.

He received his doctorate at the University of Dortmund and was assistant professor at ETH Zurich.

He is on the board of OFFIS, on the advisory board of various research institutes and member of the Supervisory Board of several companies.

In 2007 he was awarded the honorary doctorate from the TU Braunschweig.
